Overnight Batana Scalp Treatment (How-To)
Left on overnight, plain batana has hours to soften and condition the scalp and ends. The two tricks are using less than you'd expect and protecting your pillow. Here's the method.
You'll need
- • Batana oil, on its own (about 1-2 teaspoons depending on hair length)
Ratio: Batana only - roughly 1-2 teaspoons, less for fine hair, more for long or thick hair
How often
1-2 nights a week
Method
- 1 Warm about 1-2 teaspoons of batana - less than you think you need.
- 2 Part your hair and apply to the scalp and ends; keep it light through fine mid-lengths.
- 3 Massage the scalp for 3-5 minutes to spread it evenly.
- 4 Protect your bedding with a silk or satin bonnet (or an old pillowcase), sleep, and shampoo it out in the morning - two washes if needed.

Frequently asked questions
Will batana oil stain my pillowcase?
It can, so wear a silk or satin bonnet or use an old pillowcase you don't mind. Using a small amount also helps keep transfer down.
How much batana should I use overnight?
About 1-2 teaspoons - less for fine hair. Too much just means a greasy morning and extra washing, not better results.
Do I wash it out in the morning?
Yes - shampoo it out (twice if needed). Overnight gives the oil plenty of time to condition, so morning is the natural time to rinse.
